scalp detox

We talk a lot about skincare.
Serums, toners, rituals.
But lately, I’ve realized something surprising…

My scalp is getting more attention than my face.

And honestly? It’s thriving.

🧠 Why I Started Focusing on My Scalp

It began with noticing:

  • More dryness
  • Thinning at the hairline
  • My curls weren’t holding as well
  • The feeling of a buildup occurs more often after weeks of product layering

Like skin, the scalp has a microbiome.
And like the rest of me, it’s aging too.

The truth is: I started listening to my scalp the same way I listen to my face.

And wow—she had a lot to say.

🌿 My Current Scalp Routine

Here’s what’s been working for me:

1. Scalp Detox 1x a Week

Using a gentle clay- or charcoal-based scrub shampoo to remove buildup and balance oil.

I treat this like a mini facial—but for my crown.

2. Tonic or Scalp Serum

Post-shower, I use a peppermint or rosemary scalp tonic to stimulate circulation and cool inflammation.

3. Massage, Massage, Massage

At night, I give myself a 2-minute massage with my fingers or a silicone scalp brush.

It’s relaxing and promotes growth.

4. Silk Pillowcase + No Tight Styles

These changes reduced breakage, dryness, and friction.

Skin loves silk. So does your scalp.

💡 Why This Shift Matters

Your scalp is skin, too.
It experiences tension, mirrors hormone fluctuations, and reacts to weather, stress, and diet, just like your face.

I used to focus only on styling my hair.
Now, I support the environment in which it grows.

And like skincare, when you support the root—you support the glow.

✨ The Results?

  • Softer, shinier hair
  • Less itchiness and dryness
  • A new layer of self-care, I look forward to
  • And yes, a more peaceful nervous system after those nighttime massages

🧖🏽‍♀️ Ritual Over Routine

This isn’t about a perfect hair day.
It’s about caring for the parts of me that carry energy, memory, and beauty.

So if you’re pouring everything into your face but forgetting your scalp…
Maybe today’s the day to start there.

Because beauty doesn’t stop at the hairline.
